Overview

Responsible Organization is the Banner term for the owner of an asset. When an asset's location changes its ownership may or may not change. The Chemistry Department could move an asset within Klamath Hall and retain ownership, could move an asset within Klamath Hall and transfer ownership to The Institute of Molecular Biology, or tranfer it to the Instute of Molecular Biology and move it to Willamette Hall.

In each of these situations, the owning department is responsible for completing an Asset Maintenance Form. The inventory number, the specifics of the change, and an explanation of the reason for the change should be documented on the form. The completed form should be sent to Property Control who will update the inventory records as appropriate.
